Home Without Family

I was not in the mood to write today, instead, I was busy customizing my site. Well, customizing it, I was listening to music as always, and while listening on Youtube, suddenly one advertisement got played, where a person spoke what my title of this blog is. 'Home Without Family', I don't know what was the advertisement about, but it clicked my mind, and I thought to write about it. 

Before, proceeding I want you to take a second and give it a thought about what I will write further about the subject. Will it be about how difficult it will be to stay without family, or about not being able to visit family because of COVID, or anything else?

I have seen people conversing and many such thoughts which say there can't be a home without family, and many dialogues in Bollywood or Hollywood movies, and while watching or reading such stuff, we get emotional and feel it completely and agree to it, that there can't be a home without a family.  Well, I always try to give every emotion and feelings a new turn, in my blogs, and to even practice in life and so I gave this one as well.

To those thoughts, who believe there can't be a home without family, sorry but I disagree. There can be, and there is, at least my home, is without family, and yet it is home for me. 

I agree we need people around to call family, we need someone to listen, to laugh with, to cry with, to share your future plans with, but that's not what a home is only about.

To me, home is where I am comfortable, where I am stress-free, where I get motivation, where I get filled up with joy and positivity, Where I feel energized. And maybe you might be having your definition of a home.

I have made a home for myself in a different city, in a rented house, where the comfort is not rented, it's my own. where I have invested my time and interest in decorating my place and making it as comfortable as it could be, shopping from amazon for the idol of Buddha to bring serenity to my home or getting wind chimes for the sound it emanates and fill the home with positive vibes. Well talking about wind chimes, my catcalls me by climbing on a chair and making a sound from wind chime whenever she needs me at night. So, it's helping her as well to call her secretary. 

Lonely, is a choice, you can be surrounded by people and yet be lonely or you must be staying alone, and yet not lonely,  and you know what I have chosen. I am loved, happy, and respected in my home, to outsiders it can be just a building or for people who believe there can't be a home without family.

I have friends coming over to my place and many have said this to me that they feel comfortable and homely in my house, they get a good sleep in here when they stuck around all night. What more I can offer to myself? Yes, it's not lavish, yes, Its rented, yes, I won't be staying in here forever, but whatever time I will be spending and where ever I will be moving next will be same for me, because I have created that homely feeling in my house all by myself, it's not attached to any person, it's not about the city, it's about time that I have invested in this house to make it what I want from it. 

One can only stay happy if they know how to spend time with their own self, how to enjoy their own company, students staying abroad, or in hostels, away from family experience this difficult time of staying alone, it's not because of the family alone but also because of the responsibilities they now have, they are scared of them. The moment they will get their stuff done, they won't complain about missing home much, they miss home only when they are stuck, having fever, unable to deal with changes, but when they learn to deal with the new changes and when they get emotionally connected to their places, they will miss their family but they will that place home, where they are currently. 

So, design your home, the way you want it to be.
